Two further study visits to Lai Chi Wo were conducted, in collaboration with Produce Green Foundation, an NGO specialising in the revival of farming in Hong Kong.

A briefing was given to green groups and concerned policy organizations on the Foundation’s proposal to Government regarding Sha Lo Tung.

A letter was sent to the private site owner in Tai Long Sai Wan, pointing out the need to rectify breaches.



9 September 2011

A proposal “Better Conservation for Sha Lo Tung and Hong Kong”, aimed at solving the long-standing problem of private land within the Sha Lo Tung Priority Site was sent to the Chief Executive and key officials. The key concept was that government should acquire the privately-owned land in Sha Lo Tung through value-for–value non in-situ land exchange.



12 August 2011

Board Directors had a meeting with the Environmental Protection Department, to brief them about problems associated with the proposed columbarium project at Sha Lo Tung.



8 August 2011

Board members paid a study visit by to Lai Chi Wo.  (Government announced a Development Permission Area covering Lai Chi Wo, Siu Tan and Sam A Tsuen on 26 August 2011.)

Directors Lam Chiu Ying and Ng Cho Nam had a working meeting with Mr Tsang Yuk On, senior member of Hing Chun Yeuk, starting the dialogue about the sustainable development of Lai Chi Wo.

The Board endorsed the document “Project Assessment Criteria and Form” compiled by the SIC, modelled after the Australia Bush Heritage model.
